From South to North through as many countries of the Americas as possible!

This is what the route we have foreseen to ride looks like at the moment. There are of course many uncertainties, currently the biggest one would be Venezuela – if the situation there deteriorates further, we have to look for aternatives and might have to skip the Guyanas altogether.

The planned route:

Update 13. December 2016:
The wind along Argentinas Southern coast was so strong and annoying, that we decided to cut inland and follow the Ruta 40 along the Andes again. Unfortunately that means we wont see the Peninsula Valdes…

Update 21. January 2017:
To catch the 8th stage of the Dakar Rally, we had to rush to the northermost parts of Argentina and had to skip the planned detour through Buenos Aires. Due to altitude sickness on Nora’s part we quickly fled the Argentinian Puna to San Pedro de Atacama in Chile and from there you usually take the (in)famous Laguna Route to enter Bolivia, which is what we did of course.
The new plan is to visit the Southern parts of Bolivia before turning Southeast to reach the coast of Brazil, which we will follow North hopefully up to the Guyanas before turning back to Manaus and to exit the Amazon basin through the BR319 or in case of heavy rain, take the boat to Porto Velho and then enter Northern Bolivia.

Update 19. April 2017:
Visa formalities in Brazil have changed multiple times in the past years and it seems no one really has a clue about the latest regulations. As we do not want to get stuck in the Guyanas for 3 months because Brazil refuses us re-entry, we paid the Policia Federal in São Paulo a visit to inquire about visa extension. They told us that Pablo can extend his visa in June, but Nora would first have to leave the country for 15 days before getting a new visa for another 3 months. The lady could not explain to us, why we would be treated differently even though we both have a Swiss passport and both our last visits to Brazil date back to 2013. We will inquire again at a different police station further North, but are getting used to the idea of skipping the Guyanas alltogether and take the boat directly to Manaus to exit the country before our 3-month visa runs out.

      Nora & Pablo

  2. I have noticed that over the course of building a relationship with real estate managers, you’ll be able to get them to understand that, in most real estate purchase, a percentage is paid. In the end, FSBO sellers will not “save” the fee. Rather, they fight to win the commission by doing a agent’s work. In accomplishing this, they shell out their money plus time to execute, as best they might, the assignments of an adviser. Those obligations include revealing the home via marketing, introducing the home to buyers, building a sense of buyer urgency in order to prompt an offer, preparing home inspections, dealing with qualification investigations with the lender, supervising fixes, and assisting the closing of the deal.

  3. I’m amazed, I have to admit. Rarely do I encounter a blog that’s equally
educative and interesting, and let me tell you, you’ve hit the nail on the head.
The problem is something not enough people are speaking intelligently about.
Now i’m very happy I stumbled across this in my
    hunt for something regarding this.
